Brick & Pressure Cleaning Moss Vale
Moss Vale is the agricultural heart of the Highlands and the work reflects it: as much rural property as township, and a lot of stone. Farm buildings, stables, machinery sheds, dry stone and mortared boundary walls, and the substantial older homesteads on land around the town.

On the ground in Moss Vale
In the town itself there is a well-preserved older commercial centre and railway precinct, plus the churches and public buildings that come with a nineteenth-century Highlands town.
What makes Moss Vale different
Rural properties here bring problems the suburbs do not: bore and dam water used for irrigation and stock, which leaves iron staining wherever it lands, and organic staining from stock, feed and machinery on concrete and stonework.

Quick answer
Why does bore water stain sandstone and concrete orange?
Bore and dam water frequently carries dissolved iron. When it is used for irrigation or stock and lands on sandstone, concrete or masonry, the water evaporates and the iron oxidises, leaving an orange-brown stain that builds with every cycle. Treating the stain requires a reducing agent rather than an acid wash, and unless the sprinkler throw is adjusted or the supply filtered, the staining simply returns.

FAQ
Moss Vale — questions we get asked
Do you clean farm buildings and stone walls?
Yes. Rural work is a good part of what we do in this district — sheds, stables, hardstand, stone walls and homestead exteriors. Old mortared stonework gets the same conservation approach as heritage brick.
Can iron staining from irrigation be removed?
Usually, with a reducing treatment or poultice rather than acid, which makes iron staining worse. The stain will come back unless the water hitting the surface is dealt with, so we will point out where it is coming from.
