Truck & Machinery Cleaning

Plant and trucks get cleaned for three reasons: presentation, so the fleet looks like a business worth hiring; inspection, so a mechanic can actually see what they are looking at; and resale, where a clean machine is worth measurably more.

Quick answer

How is heavy machinery cleaned?

Heavy machinery is cleaned with hot water high pressure and an alkaline degreaser applied to the engine bay, undercarriage, tracks and body, allowed to dwell so it emulsifies grease and hydraulic residue, then flushed. Dried clay and concrete build-up usually needs soaking and mechanical removal first. Electrical components, ECUs, sensors and decals are masked, and washing is done over a bunded wash bay or with runoff capture where site rules require it.

Concrete and clay build-up

Hardened concrete on an agitator, a pump or a tipper body is a different job to washing road film. It needs acid chemistry chosen so it removes the build-up without attacking the steel or the paint underneath, plus soaking time and mechanical work. It is exactly the same chemistry problem as cleaning brickwork, applied to a truck.

FAQ

Truck & Machinery — questions we get asked

Can you wash at our yard?

Yes, provided there is a water supply and a compliant place for the runoff to go. Where there is not, we bring capture and containment.

Do you clean before a service or inspection?

Frequently. A degreased machine makes leaks, cracks and wear visible, which is the point of the inspection.
